The FDM2017 workshop within the framework of INFORMATIK 2017 conference addresses the inclusion of available heterogeneous databases and linked open data in current research questions. While established data management structures have already been established in specialized research areas in scientific sciences, these methods are becoming increasingly interesting for research questions in the humanities and social sciences. The relevant research processes and the information systems supporting them are currently the subject of current research. In particular, questions concerning data protection, copyright protection, data collection and archiving on the part of process management as well as virtualization, availability, the provision of services and the requirements analysis in the research process on the part of the information systems are in the foreground. In this context, the workshop also addresses data, knowledge, software engineers and users in the IT departments of research facilities, libraries, archives, information suppliers and other interested users. The workshop languages are German and English.
