The pervasive use of mobile devices, the development of more natural users?? interfaces and the new possibilities offered by the evolution of Web applications, together with the availability of large amount of multimodal data and information, enable people to access them and/or to use a multimodal dialog approach in order to access information and/or services. The purpose of this workshop will be to discuss and provide a scenario about: 1) theories and techniques about multimodal information retrieval and multimodal databases for indexing, representing, organizing, querying and extracting features from multimodal data, and 2) multimodal interfaces and multimodal interaction languages used in a more natural/flexible Human Computer Interaction approach, 3) the multimodal Web interaction. Topics of interests include but are not limited to: · Multimodal information retrieval · Multimodal Web interaction · Indexing, search, and retrieval techniques of multimodal data · Multimodal database systems · Multimodal query processing · Information extraction · Information fusion and fission · Multimodal query languages · Multimodal interfaces and Multimodal interaction languages · Evaluation of multimodal interfaces PC Chairs: · Karin Coninx, Hasselt University, Belgium, e-mail: karin.coninx@uhasselt.be · Fernando Ferri, IRPPS-CNR, Italy, e-mail:fernando.ferri@irpps.cnr.it · Patrizia Grifoni, IRPPS-CNR, Italy, e-mail:patrizia.grifoni@irpps.cnr.it Program Committee: · Nadia Bianchi-Berthouze, UCL Interaction Centre, UK · Matt-Mouley Bouamrane, University of Manchester, United Kingdom · Pedro Branco, IMEDIA Providence RI, USA · Richard Chbeir, Bourgogne University, France · Anna Formica, Istituto di Analisi dei Sistemi ed Informatica-CNR, Rome, Italy · Pilar Herrero, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain · Irina Kondratova, Institute for Information Technology, NRC, Canada · Fabio Pittarello,Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia, Italy · Riccardo Torlone, Università Roma Tre, Rome, Italy · Esteban Zimanyi, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium · Frederic Andres, University of Aizu, Japan · Yiwei Cao, University of Aachen, Germany · Marcus Specht, Open University of the Netherlands Important dates: Submission of abstracts: February 29, 2008 Submission of full papers: March 9, 2008 Notification of acceptance: April 12, 2008 Camera-ready copies due: May 15, 2008 Papers Submission: The full paper submission is limited to 5 pages in length (IEEE ICDE Format).
