CALL FOR PAPERS

EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing Special Issue on Multispectral and Hyperspectral Image and Video Processing

http://www.hindawi.com/journals/asp/si/mhivp.html

INTRODUCTION

Recent advances in imaging and computer hardware technology have led to an explosion in the use of multispectral, hyperspectral, and in particular, color images/video in a variety of fields including agriculture, ecology, geology, medicine, meteorology, mining, and oceanography. As a result, automated processing and analysis of multichannel images/video have become an active area of research, which is witnessed by the large number of publications during the past two decades. The multivariate nature of visual data presents new challenges for researchers and practitioners as the numerous methods developed for single channel images/video are often not directly applicable to multichannel images/ video.

The goal of this special issue is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the area of color, multispectral, and hyperspectral image and video processing. We are soliciting original contributions, which address a wide range of theoretical and practical issues. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

- Coding and compression

- Sampling and interpolation

- Fusion

- Filtering and enhancement

- Morphology

- Edge detection and segmentation

- Feature extraction

- Indexing and retrieval

- Applications and future trends

Note that the main focus of this issue is the utilization of multichannel information in image and video processing. Therefore, submissions that primarily involve monochrome image/video processing techniques will not be considered.

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/asp/guidelines.html. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com according to the following timetable:

> Manuscript Due: April 1, 2011

> First Round of Reviews: July 1, 2011

> Publication Date: October 1, 2011
