The International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing is organized every two years by the Italian group of researchers affiliated to IAPR (GIRPR), with the aim to bring together researchers in image processing and pattern recognition from around the world.
The main target of ICIAP 2009, the 15th edition in the series, will be to provide a place in which the most recent approaches and goals in image analysis can be presented and discussed.

Image processing and pattern recognition
Segmentation, feature extraction and representation, shape and motion primitives, texture and color information, statistical, structural and syntactic pattern recognition, neural networks and genetic algorithms, interactive image analysis and interpretation.

Vision and perception
Cognitive vision, active vision, spatial reasoning, 2D and 3D modeling, perceptual learning.

Internet pattern recognition
Visual processing for communication and internet, wearable computing, augmented and virtual reality, human computer interfaces, multimedia databases, digital and video libraries, compression and coding, security over the network.
Architectures and efficient computing

Intelligent sensors, VLSI image processor chips, architectures for 3D and motion, multimedia extensions, VLIW, embedded processors.

Applications
Ambient intelligence and security, biomedicine, biometrics, cultural heritage, OCR and document analysis, mobile robots and visual navigation, network security, remote sensing and environment control, video surveillance and intelligent transport systems, visual inspection and quality control, underwater robots.
