The First IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series in Region 9 (IMWS2009-R9), will take place during February 19-20, 2009, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Guadalajara is Mexico??s second most important city. Founded in 1542, the ??Pearl of the West?? is a captivating metropolis, full of contrast and tradition. Much of the emblematic folklore by which Mexico is known around the world, comes from Guadalajara and its State, Jalisco. Guadalajara is an engaging city and undisputed symbol of Mexico that manages to offer world-class amenities without losing its provincial charm. The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area is home to three and a half million inhabitants. The city has an average altitude of 1,561 meters (5,121 feet) above sea level, and boasts a wonderful climate. Guadalajara is a few hours from the Pacific coast ??three hours from Manzanillo and four from Puerto Vallarta?? and modern highways have cut driving time to Mexico City down to five hours. Guadalajara is an important business hub and center for technological development that has attracted a significant concentration of national and transnational electronic firms, as well as hardware and software developers. The IMWS2009-R9 includes the following technical topics: * High-speed interconnects (system, PCB, package and IC levels) * Electromagnetic compatibility (design, testing and standards) * Measurement techniques for EMC and high frequency links * CAD techniques for EM-based modeling, simulation and optimization * Crosstalk and coupling effects * Signal integrity * State-of-the-art interconnects, including SIW, EBG and metamaterial structures * High-speed digital techniques * Pre-emphasis, equalization and modulation techniques * Other relevant microwave engineering topics Prospective authors are invited to submit contributions for oral presentation to be reviewed by the Technical Program Committee. Manuscripts must be submitted in PDF format for consideration as part of the technical program (no hard copies accepted). Papers must conform to the IMWS-2009 template (4-page length). Accepted and presented papers will be published on-line in IEEE Xplore.
