= Aims and Scope =
Cloud computing gained prominence in 2007 and is picking up momentum as the next “big
thing” in computing. “Cloud” works as a third-party between users and computational
resources. Consumers of the “cloud” are concerned with services it can provide rather than
the underlying technologies used to achieve the requested function. The advancement of
grid computing and web services has much facilitated the growth of cloud computing. Other
net-centric computing paradigm like utility computing, ubiquitous computing or on-demand-
computing also promote flourish of cloud computing. However, what new challenges is cloud
computing brings on security, reliability and quality? In other words, what new issues raised
in the evolution from grid computing (or other net-centric computing paradigm) to cloud
computing needed to be considered.
= Topics of Interest =
This event intentionally seeks scientists, engineers, educators, industry people, and others who
have insight, vision, and understanding of the big challenges in cloud computing. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to the theoretical, technical, or empiricalaspects of the
following:
* New security issues in cloud computing or security problems raised from the evolution from grid computing (or other net-centric computing paradigm) to cloud computing
* Service Level Agreements (SLA), quality, and reliability in cloud computing
* New scheduling models and algorithms in cloud computing
* User interface and resource interface design and implementation of “cloud”
* Principles, theoretical models and architectures of cloud computing
* Design, implementation and development of cloud computing systems
* Programming models, tools and middlewares for cloud computing
* Data mining and knowledge discovery in cloud computing
* Mobile databases, services, and workflows
* Creation, operation and negotiations of Virtual organizations (VO) in cloud computing
* Web Services and ontology support for cloud computing
We strongly encourage submission of papers bridging the research in different fields and promoting mutual exchange and understanding of cross-field research results.
= Publication and Submission Details =
Papers have to present original research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere. All manuscripts will be reviewed by members of the program committee based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. All papers accepted by NSS’09 workshops will be published in a combined volume published by IEEE Computer Society. All submissions should be in English. Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one author will attend the workshop to present the work. Papers should not exceed 8 pages in IEEE format: http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/authors/index.html. Papers must be submitted to: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/SRQCC2009/Default.aspx.
