PRESENTATION
 
Organized by the LIPN (Computer Lab of the University of Paris-Nord), TALN'09 will take place from June 24th till June 26th in the historical city of Senlis, situated 50 km north of Paris, after the celebration for the 50th anniversary of ATALA on the 23rd in Paris.
 
TALN'09 is organised under the aegis of ATALA (Association pour le Traitement Automatique des Langues) and will be held jointly with the RECITAL'09, the conference for young researchers (separated call for Papers)
 
The conference will include oral presentations of research and position papers, posters, invited speakers and demonstrations. The official language is French. English presentations and papers are accepted for non-French-speaking authors.
 
 TOPICS
 
Presenters are allowed 30 minutes for their presentation, including questions. Papers are requested in all areas of NLP, including (but not restricted to) :
 
o Lexicon : databases containing morphological, syntactic, semantic,
and/or phonological information
 
o Analysis, generation and lexicons in the following domains:
- Phonetics and phonology
- Morphology
- Syntax
- Semantics
 
o NLP applications
- Text analysis
- Text summarization
- Text generation
- Natural language interfaces
- Machine translation
- Information retrieval
- Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
 
* Logical, symbolic and statistical approaches of LNP
 
 SELECTION
 
Authors are invited to submit two types of communications:
- original research work
- position paper on the current state of the research work
 
Submissions will be reviewed by at least two experts of the domain. For accepted communications, the program committee will propose either an oral or a poster presentation.
 
The program committee will select two papers, which will be recommended for publication (extended form)in the journal "Traitement Automatique des Langues" (T.A.L.).
 
For research papers, decisions will be based on the following criteria:
- importance and originality of the paper
- scientific and technical soundness
- comparison of the results obtained with those found in relevant works
- situation of the research in comparison with international work
- clarity of the presentation
- relevance to the conference topics
 
For position papers, decisions will be based on the following criteria:
- clarity of the talk
- originality of the point of view presented
- rigour of the argumentation
- breadth and the taking into account of the state-of-the-art
 
The selected communications will be published in the conference proceedings.
 
 
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
 
Papers will be written in French for French-speaking authors or English for non-French-speaking authors.
 
Papers should not exceed 10 pages and position paper 6 pages, in Times
12, single-spaced (approx. 3,000 words), including figures, examples and
references.
 
A LaTeX style file and a Word template are available on the conference
website. The page format is A4. An interactive form for the subsmission
of articles is provided on the conference website. Papers should be
uploaded in PDF format.
