Introduction 
One of the ways which online education is capable of reaching online learners is the basis and method of transformative learning. Therefore, it is important to understand how to prepare transformative learning sessions and courses and how to design an environment for prospective online learners so that they are able to transfer their information, knowledge and learning from theoretical forms to real life experiences with online education.  In the field of distance education and online learning, there exists a need for an edited collection of articles in this area.

Objective of the book 
This book aims to reveal the aesthetics, dimensions and concepts of online education based on transformative learning with theoretical frameworks and research findings. The unique approach of this book brings together 1) online education, 2) transformative learning, and 3) their aesthetics, dimensions and concepts in an edited collection of scholarly articles. The aesthetical, dimensional and conceptual issues will be discussed using the viewpoints of innovation, creativity, inclusion, society, culture, mobility, usability, discourse, feminism, ecology and spirituality.

Target Audience 
The audience of this book will consist of several different parts. Academics and professionals from the distance education field will be interested in this important reference. This publication will also help the distance education managers by presenting special approaches for those who are willing to let their distance learners transform information, knowledge and learning from virtual to real life experiences. In addition, content experts and content providers will benefit from information on the preparation and presentation of learning materials for online transformative learning that will be presented in this book. Moreover, this book will be very helpful for students at varying levels of their education who are concerned with learning theories, online education applications and transformative learning.

Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before April 10, 2009 a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by April 25, 2009 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by June 25, 2009. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

This book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), publisher of the “Information Science Reference” (formerly Idea Group Reference), “Medical Information Science Reference,” and “IGI Publishing” imprints.
